FAQ
Care & What I Help With
-
I work with a wide range of internal and stress-related concerns, including digestion, hormonal and menstrual health, sleep issues, pain, emotional overwhelm, fertility, and major life transitions. Many people come in not with a clear diagnosis, but with a sense that something feels off.
In Chinese medicine, deeper imbalances often show up in a variety of ways. We may begin by addressing the most immediate concern, and as your system stabilizes, we often uncover and support the patterns underneath. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I tailor care to the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. If you’re unsure whether your concern is “right” for this practice, you’re very welcome here.
-
Yes. Acupuncture is very safe when practiced by a licensed and trained provider. I use sterile, single-use needles and adjust each treatment to your constitution and comfort level. Most people find the experience very relaxing, and leave feeling better than when they arrived. You’re always welcome to ask questions or share feedback at any point.
Appointments & Your Care
-
Your first appointment is a thoughtful introduction to care. We’ll spend time discussing your health history, current concerns, and what’s happening in your life so I can understand your unique patterns. The session then moves into a personalized acupuncture treatment, tailored to your body, mind, and spirit.
If appropriate, we’ll also discuss herbal support and lifestyle guidance, which are included as part of your session. By the end, you’ll leave feeling heard, grounded, and supported, with a clear sense of your next steps toward lasting balance.
-
The number of treatments depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people notice meaningful shifts within just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term care. I typically think of treatment in phases—initial support, building momentum, and maintenance—and we’ll check in regularly to assess your progress and adjust our approach as needed. This is a collaborative process, and we’ll make decisions together based on how your body is responding.
For many people, receiving treatments in a consistent series can be a supportive way to build momentum and create lasting change.
-
Think of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine like a massage and an Epsom salt bath. Acupuncture provides more immediate, targeted relief, while herbs work slowly over time to support deeper, long-lasting changes within your body. Often, the best results come from combining both methods.
Scheduling, Payment & Policies
-
I do not bill insurance directly, which allows me to spend more time with each patient and provide care that isn’t limited by insurance requirements.
Many patients use FSA or HSA funds for acupuncture, and FSA/HSA cards are welcome. I’m happy to provide a superbill for possible reimbursement; eligibility is determined by your plan administrator.
-
Yes—herbal recommendations are included as part of your acupuncture care when appropriate. If herbs would be supportive for you, we’ll discuss them together and I’ll prescribe a personalized formula based on your needs.
Not everyone needs herbs, and they’re never required. When used, they help extend the benefits of acupuncture between sessions and support deeper, internal balance. Custom herbal formulas are prepared and purchased separately, and we’ll always review options together before moving forward.
